![]() This can cause panic in these urban areas and endangers the lives of the animals as well. This can impact society because when the amount of area the animals have to live in is decreased, they start to move to residential areas. This would mean that some predators and prey have to die. In order for the system to stay in equilibrium there has to be a decrease from both sides of the equation. There will still be the same number of animals but less space to move. All the animals are confined in a smaller area. This interrupts the way the animal’s function as the space they live in gets smaller. Sometimes large companies decide to build malls or condominiums. This is similar to chemical equilibrium as pressure is inversely proportional to volume.Īnother factor that will cause disturbance in the system would be habitat conditions. If there is more space there are more prey. If there is less space there is more predators. The amount of space is inversely proportional to the concentration of animals. In both situations the equilibrium would be disturbed. If this continued to happen there would be no prey left to hunt so it would eventually cause a decrease in predators as well because there would be no food to eat. This would cause a shift to the left because there would be more predators and less prey. Prey would be easily found and predators will always be full. The opposite of this situation is when there is very little space for the animals to live in. This would cause a shift to the right because more prey would stay living and predators will start to die from starvation. More space would mean more ground has to be covered to find food. ![]() Space affects the equilibrium or predators and prey because if there is a lot of space in the environment it means that it will be harder for predators to find their prey. The animals being hunted are called prey. Predators are animals that hunt other living organisms in order to feed themselves and families. ![]() Animals or to be more specific, predators and prey can be disturbed by many factors such as space, habitat conditions, and concentration. In chemical equilibrium the system can be disturbed by pressure, temperature, and concentrations. To live in equilibrium there are certain conditions that need to be met. Similarly, in ecosystems there has to be a certain balance between the animals that live in the environment in order to reach equilibrium. When a system is at equilibrium it means that the system’s energy is at a constant state.
